Red Dirt Skinners
The Red Dirt Skinners are Rob and Sarah Skinner, who formed the band after their marriage in 2012. Between them, they have both played in numerous bands, spanning numerous genres and cite their keenness to experiment with different genres as the reason behind their unique genre-defying sound. In 2013, the Red Dirt Skinners became the first band in history to succeed at both the British Blues Awards and the British Country Music Awards, but don’t let this impressive accolade pigeonhole their music for you; they’ve also recently been nominated for an Americana award. Spurred on by the support they received following the release of Home Sweet Home, Rob and Sarah began performing further afield and in April 2013 the duo performed their first European shows; many to sell out crowds. The public response to the Skinners was so encouraging that they self-released their third album using donations from their fanbase. Sinking The Mary Rose was released in October 2013. With a real buzz about the duo, and a hugely positive response from their live shows, the Skinners made a last minute decision to record Live In Aberdeen in 2014. Live in Aberdeen displays the superior quality of musicianship that fans have come to expect at a Red Dirt Skinners’ show and led to full house shows becoming the norm for the Skinners.
